Jane Gray Design

Fine-line illustration inspired by the wild and quiet details of the Scottish landscape.

My work is rooted in the landscapes of my childhood and the rugged beauty of my current home in the Scottish Borders. I grew up surrounded by the countryside, and my illustrations are a way of capturing the nostalgia and calm found in those places.

Whether it is the lighthouses from family day trips, the dandelions I used to play "tell the time" with, or the coastal shores where I’ve spent long summer days—usually eating sand-filled sandwiches—every piece I create tells a story of place. It isn’t a true Scottish picnic unless the sand gets everywhere!

Working predominantly in ink with a fine-line illustrative style, I translate my hand-drawn studies into contemporary textiles, homeware, and art prints.

What began in 2020 as a creative response to a changing world has grown into Jane Gray Design. Today, I am proud to combine my technical background in printed textiles with my love for traditional illustration to create high-quality, sustainably-made pieces that bring a touch of the outdoors into the home.
