“Tales of Hame”
I believe textiles are a canvas for storytelling, and each of my designs take inspiration from an experience or a memory of the countryside that surrounds us.
Through creating this collection the thought of being home was at the forefront, surrounded by the flowers that are planted in my memory. With the colours of Autumn playing a part as there truly is beauty and burst of colour when you go seeking for it in the wilting hedgerows.
The titles of each design are also a link to “hame” and a tribute to my father who passed away recently. Having lived, worked and brought up us kids in the same village where he was born (located in the Southwest of Scotland) my Da had a pretty broad Scots accent and as such each title name is my wee nod to my my wee Da who was always in his garden working away.
My hope is the collection evokes a sense of continuity with the pas design movements such as the Arts & Crafts and appeals to a wider audience seeking to elevate their interior spaces with unique, handcrafted textiles.
As always helping to bring a wee bit of nature and comfort into our homes.
